Apple and Spice Porridge

1 large (215g) apple, peeled, cored and finely sliced

1 cup oats

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp mixed spice

1 cup low-fat milk

1 tbsp honey or brown sugar

1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

  1. Place the apple, oats, cinnamon, mixed spice, milk and 2 cups of water in a large microwave-proof dish. Cook on high (100%) for 8 minutes, stirring every minute, until thick. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Serve drizzled with the honey and slivered almonds
